D.I.Y. Beauty in No Time: Quick Tips for Self-Care

D.I.Y. Beauty in No Time: Quick Tips for Self-Care 1

Winter is the perfect time to turn on the Netflix, turn up the heat and relax in your pajamas. While this may be tempting – and often enjoyable – it is important to remember to take care of yourself. Winter is the perfect opportunity to invest in you and dedicate more time to self-care. Not only will you be happier and healthier, but your loved ones will too.

Self-care may bring to mind activities that typically cost much money as getting a facial or a pedicure. Luckily, there are plenty of ways you can make your self-care treatments that are inexpensive and enjoyable.

Spa Water

Ever had spa water? It may seem fancy, but it is easy to make at home. Recreate this water at home by adding fruit, vegetables, herbs or spices and let it sit for a few hours until the flavors infuse. For instance, we love these infused water flavor combinations — Blueberry lemon mint? Yes, please! — from Hello Natural.

Sugar Scrubs

To continue the spa experience at home, try making a simple sugar scrub. Scrubs can be expensive at the store, but at home, you can make them using many of the ingredients, like sugar and oil, that you already have in your pantry. We suggest the scrub in the bath with you and rubbing it on to get rid of dead skin cells. Try different homemade sugar scrub variations to determine a scrub that works best for you.

Facial

Before you soak in the bath, make a spa-level DIY facial.  To steam your face, run a washcloth under sweltering water, drape it over your face and leave it there for a few minutes. Afterward, apply a mask made of avocado, honey, and coconut oil and let sit for 10-15 min.

After your bath, you can make your skin even softer by combining cold cream with a few drops of your favorite essential oil and a tablespoon of olive oil. Rub over your hands and then put on a pair of rubber gloves and let sit until the homemade hand softener works its magic.

Deep Conditioning Treatment

Instead of going to the hairdresser, make an at-home deep conditioning treatment for your hair by combining coconut oil with jojoba and tea tree oil. After applying the treatment to your hair, use a heating cap and a medium heat setting on your blow dryer. To give your hair extra shine after the heating phase, spritz it with apple cider vinegar.

Wintertime is a great opportunity to take care of you and keep feeling beautiful. Use these tips to help embrace these darker, colder months and celebrate self-care.
