Ingredients

One recipe easy pie dough, one half shaped and chilled in a pie plate, the other rolled out flat and chilled on a floured sheet pan
8 ounces granulated sugar
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
13 ounces buttermilk
3 egg yolks
2 eggs
4 tablespoons melted butter, just warm to the touch
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (or more if you'd like)
1/2 teaspoon salt
Egg wash: 1 egg beaten with 1 large pinch of salt
Optional: sanding sugar for sprinkling
